A review of Bellgrove Hotel by John aitken written on Thursday 9th of June 2011
TO all the people staying in this hotel, did you know that during the war when the germans were bombing the gallowgate they hit the speedwell tar place in wich my granda worked and blew the very large boiler out and it landed on top of the roof of the hotelwhen they were searchingthe hotel for the watchman /caretaker at the time he found him upside down in a barrell, alive my mother who stayed in tureen st had a swing made up of the silk cords that was on the bomb that landed I bet you that was the dearest swing in the gallow gate ,and when my wee granda whent back to the airaid shelter in the back he said that the blast had left imprints of peoples backs on the walls so theres awee bit more about the hotel that its got a roof not even the germans coud get through from john aitken .
