A review of Holy Cross R C Primary School by Michael gartlan written on Saturday 17th of September 2011
The rest of youse on these posts are only young lads compared to me lol! I'm Leo's brother and spent my last year of primary education at Daisy Street in 1965. At that time there was a huge increase in the Catholic population on the south side of Glasgow - too many in Govanhill for one school! In my last year the same class moved around different buildings for a couple of months at a time. The school buildings I attended with Holy Cross were Daisy Street, Batson Street, St. Brigids Toryglen, Craig Road Cathcart and Melville St Pollokshields. My teacher was Miss Templeton and they're used to be a ragman outside the school blowing a horn every morning around 11am - is'nt it strange the trivial things that still spring to mind. God Bless, Michael Gartlan aged 57. ps Daisy Street is still going strong but as office for Govanhill Housing Association - I'm sure you could get a job there now if you can speak Urdu, Hindi or any Eastern European language ........... .
