"The Firemen's close"

A review of Ruchazie Primary School by Ian Blackwood written on Thursday 29th of December 2011

Like Ian Hamilton's father my Dad was a fireman and we lived at 6 Dunnottar Street, we were on the ground floor and Ian and his sister were on the top floor I think. Mr MacKay was also my teacher and he persuaded my parents to let me sit an exam to go to Allan Glen's, which should have made me posh but failed.

My main memories of Ruchazie are school and playing football all ady and night in the farmer's field across Gilbertfield Street. Seems like a long time ago, probably because it was!

My sister Carol was born in the house in Dunnottar Street..
