"Money grabbing government"

Why oh why are all the numbers for HMRC ALL 0845 type numbers that you have to sit and listen to minutes of drivel and then cannot get through to a human voice. I am a pensioner and have tried 4 times in the last 2 days holding for more than 10 minutes each time. Just not good enough!.
