A review of Fyfe & McGrouther by Bob Ramage written on Tuesday 16th of October 2012
I also have memories of beginning my working life with Fyfe & McGrouther in Glasgow aged 15 in 1952 opening the morning mail and working in the general office before being moved on to the ironmongery department where I spent many happy years in both office and warehouse working for manager Alastair Alexander. I was then promoted to salesman for Lanarkshire which was ideal since I lived at that time in Larkhall. I finally moved on in 1966 to a competitor before joining a manufacturer supplier to the ironmongery industry. I made it to the 'top' by becoming Managing Director of Dorma for 25 years and also two years as GAI President. At age 75 I am still working as a consultant to the same industry and living in Kent..
