A review of Morton's Rolls Ltd by Ian Nelson written on Sunday 4th of November 2012
I used to drive the White Wedding buses in Glasgow and didn't finish work until 3am at FirstGlasgow's Scotstoun depot and used to wait at the (then) 24hour shop on Dumbarton Road for the Morton's Roll van's delivery. Taking a dozen back to the Ayrshire coast where I live I gave some to family and friends. They were much treasured as a unique type and flavour of roll. I still travel around Ayrshire and Lanarkshire and find shops with similar looking rolls which they claim to be Morton's but they definitely are not like the original. At one shop I asked if they were Morton's and was told they were so I asked why there was a McGhee's Van parked outside ....Oh! we get cakes from them. Aye! Right! They now have a ticket on them described as 'Glasgow Rolls' and charge 2p more than the morning rolls..
