A review of Gibson & Goold Ltd by Libby written on Friday 9th of May 2014
I had a wood burning stove, new fire surround and hearth installed in January 2014. Within 2 weeks of installation the paint on the stove started to peel. I contacted Gibson & Gould a number of times to arrange for them to come out to investigate. Finally given a date 3 weeks later for the day after the company went into liquidation - they must have known this. I contacted the stove manufacturer who arranged for someone to come out to look at the problem. Their assessment was that G&G fitters must have wiped the stove with chemicals. Fortunately Contura the stove suppliers have agreed to replace the stove however having had 2 companies out to look at refit, first company refused to do the work as they felt that the install done by G&G is not up to standard, 2nd company will do the work but are also concerned about the quality of the work done. I am having to pick up the cost for re-install. Although Glasgow branch of G&G has only been affected by liquidation, I would caution using the Ayr branch unless you have genuine evidence of the quality of their installations..
