We went on the Liverpool Spectacular five day coach trip and stayed at the Adelphi Hotel. It has put me off ever going on a Caledonian coach tour again .
We definitely felt like second class customers. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and when I complained the next morning the guy at reception said they would change the mattress, which they did, but that one was very uncomfortable as well. These mattresses should be discarded completely and not just put back on the beds. We came home with back pain due to them.
The hotel is also very shabby and dirty in places, I had to clean dirty marks on the bathroom, floor.
There was also some unsavoury characters both in the hotel and outside with beggars asking for money. There was never any security around to deal with this.
We were allocated our meal times at 7:30am for breakfast and 5:30pm for dinner., this did not suit us at all as we were supposed to be on holiday, but had to get up before 7am.
We also found the staff, although not unpleasant were not very welcoming or friendly.
We thoroughly enjoyed Liverpool and will return , but not with Caledonian Travel when the Adelphi is the only hotel of choice.
I must add the the driver of our coach and the trips we went on we're very good..
