A review of City Facilities Management (UK) Ltd by Ginna written on Thursday 2nd of April 2015
Don't waste time and money collecting colleague feedback by way of a 'We're Listening Survey' because you don't listen and, when you have no intention of constructively addressing employee concerns. Don't patronise your colleagues with 'Star Points' for their commitment and hard work. Don't insult your employees with a Christmas bonus of a '£10 ASDA shopping voucher'. Don't expect a good standard of cleaning when the time given for each task is inadequate, and especially when you don't take into account the unexpected or the lack of 'clean as you go' which has a negative impact on City tasks. Don't base your time and motion on a tape measure. Don't keep moving the goal posts just because the powers that be are due to visit, welcome them with open arms with an opening line, 'Welcome to My World'. Seriously, they need to see the day job as it really is, so stop creating a false impression because the systems in place for both ASDA colleagues and ACES to do their day job well are not working. Don't expect to retain your colleagues by bullying them into submission with the threat of unemployment after all, you have more to loose than they do. You cannot run your business without the most important asset a business can have, 'It's People', but they can manage without the poor pay, low hours and insecure contracts that are continually under threat year upon year. Don't expect your colleagues to sing from the same song sheet without communication.
Do listen and act upon your colleagues concerns. Do reward your colleagues for a job well done with a fair days pay and a worthwhile Christmas bonus that they can spend anywhere. Do expect a good standard of cleaning, but base your time and motion on the task at hand, customer volume and taking the unexpected into account. Throw the tape measure away and do the job yourself, on a regular basis and for a reasonable length of time so you can make an informed decision on changes to the time and tasks at hand. Do try and create a good impression for the powers that be, but be honest, if they want 100% on a daily basis, then they need to understand 'you don't get more for less', honestly, we don't expect to pay for a basket of groceries and be able to walk out of store with a trolley full, so they shouldn't expect to run their stores on half the amount of hours/wages it needs. Do communicate with your colleagues, and stop your bullying, if you want respect then treat others how you'd like to be treated yourself, and above all, when you put your face on in the morning, try to wear it for the whole day because its very difficult to work along side people who have more faces than the town hall clock..
