A review of Caledonian Travel by Disgruntled Guy. written on Saturday 23rd of May 2015
Just recently returned from a solo four day trip to Oban. When I booked the trip I was hit with a single supplement, which is the norm for Caledonian Travel. I don't mind paying a single supplement if I am allocated a double room but when I checked into the hotel, I was allocated a single room. Surely the whole point of a single supplement is to compensate the hotel because a solo traveller is using a double room?
Caledonian state they do this to spread the cost across the board to allow single person holidays. What a load of absolute rubbish! It is just a CHARGING SCAM. Dressing it up by calling it a single room supplement to justify it is indefensible. The hotel manager even had the cheek to state that it costs more to service a single room than it does to service a double room! Eh? Aye right!
Caledonian Travel must lose a lot of business with this policy as many solo travellers won't book up with them again. Myself included!.
