A review of Southern General Hospital by Marion Mackenzie written on Wednesday 17th of June 2015
Marion Mackenzie , was taken in with chronic iron deficiency anaemea and bleeding , at 3pm . Shown to dirty room , patient had just vacated , soiled bedding and blood on floor . Left for ages . Guy came to change room , stripped pillows , threw to floor ( dried blood all over ) covered put back on bed ! Left in room awaiting a blood transfusion ,. Told at 11.30 not happening . Woken at 12.30am to be moved , 1.50 moved . Sleep about 3 , woken 4ish , and it really went downhill from there ! Was there 5 days fasted 4 off them awaiting theatre and scans that never happened , had 8-9 lots of industrial laxatives . Had enough on day five when I sat about , again awaiting scan all day while intubated ( which got infected ) lost 9lb in 5 days . Could go on more ! Food inedible , staff total lack off communication , place should not be open it's a disaster ! And dangerous! Cherry on the cake was when leaving was not allowed to take the meds I'd been prescribed home , I need these ! Even though the nurse I had was unable to tell me what they were for ?!?!? I was asked to wait30 mins for a Dr , 50mins later still no show , when paged busy ! I left . Utterly utterly disgusted with the place and my treatment ! It's disgracefull , old people on trolleys in corridors an utter shambles ! Came home last night . Marion Mackenzie , was on level11 room 77.
