A review of St Francis Nursing Home by Karen written on Monday 28th of December 2015
I gave birth in St Francis in 1981. I was also born there in 1963, as was my husband in 1961
The delivery room was indeed called Bethlehem though at 17 I thought of it more as a torture chamber lol
Dr Oreilly delivered me along with Sister Bernadette and his daughter Nuala Marie.
Dr O'reilly had a surgery in Cambuslang along with his wife and his sister.
There was a small chapel next to the wards, Dr O'reilly went into the chapel before every delivery if possible. Then he went back when the baby was born.
My mother lost twins and Dr O'reilly stayed with my mum for days before the second one died. The baptised them and then had them buried in the grounds somewhere. would be nice to find out where they are..
