"Long delay and wrong colour"

In November we bought some dining furnishings from Forrest. The table and sideboard were delivered immediately but we were advised that a 6 week delay was likely for the chairs and with Christmas looming it could be longer. They were finally delivered on 12th February and both my wife and I immediately said "that's the wrong colour".

Forrest were called and an inspector dully arrived on 17th armed with swabs. These clearly showed that the colour supplied was as shown on our invoice. We referred him back to the store and the sales staff who had handled our order. We explained that we had been drawn to the chairs because we wanted a light colour because the dining area is an internal space and like the inspector the salesperson had shown us various swabs with the colour range. We elected to go with the lightest colour which we thought was also the one on display. Apparently the display is a darker shade and that is what went onto our order and has been supplied.

Now I'm not trying to cast blame because we may well have helped cause the confusion at the point of sale; however, I did expect Forrest to offer to do something about it. They didn't. Instead the stood their ground highlighting that what was supplied is what is stated on the invoice. The chairs have not been used and we waited twice as long as quoted to get them so all in all I'd expect a more considerate response from Forrest.

I've been a loyal customer of MacDonand & Forrest Furnishings since I bought my first home over 35 years ago and generally I've been pleased with the quality of goods purchased but many stores sell the brands they stock and so if future I'll go elsewhere because these lengthy delays and the refusal to do anything about our complaint has left a bitter taste..
