I was sent to teach in Barrowfield in August 1952, aged 20. My first class was a primary 5 class of about 40 children.

It took me a few months to settle in, but when I did I got to love the children. They were like a family to me. I taught most of these children until they were Primary Seven with 51 pupils in the class.

I have taught many children since then, but I shall never forget my happy beginning in Barrowfield..
