A review of Ruchazie Primary School by John McKillop written on Monday 14th of September 2020
I have no idea if this site is still active, but just found Gavin / Anne referencing Robert Yeudall, so compelled to contribute. Robin / Bob as we knew him was my Great Uncle, and I was just trying to find Ruchazie school as I knew that's where he taught. Really touching to find some memories of him!
He did write Song of The Clyde, all of the words and most of the music, though the music was credited jointly to him and to Ian Gourlay. There was a bit of a spat over Mr Gourlay's tendency to be named as the writer without reference to Robin, but I think he was happy enough when that was cleared up. Bell was his mother's maiden name, hence R Y Bell.
You might also like to know (if indeed anyone is there!) that he spent the war years with MI6, something we didn't discover until 1975 when the 30 years were up, and had quite a time of it around the world as I understand it. I was still only 18 then, and to me he was just a quiet but witty schoolmaster and my uncle. He did love his teaching - I hope people thought he was OK..
