A review of The Wee Bakers by Julian Collard written on Friday 14th of March 2025
Let me start by saying that I had high hopes for The Wee Bakers. The quaint little bakery had a charming aesthetic, with its rustic decor and the warm smell of freshly baked goods wafting through the air. I was excited to try their cheesecake, which had been highly recommended by a friend. Unfortunately, my experience took a turn for the worse—a turn so bizarre and unsettling that I’m still struggling to process it.
I ordered a slice of their classic New York-style cheesecake. It looked perfect: creamy, smooth, and topped with a delicate strawberry glaze. I took my first bite, and initially, it was everything I had hoped for—rich, decadent, and satisfying. But as I continued eating, I noticed something… off. At first, I thought it was a stray hair, which, while gross, is something that can occasionally happen in food service. However, upon closer inspection, it became clear that this was no ordinary strand of hair. It was, unmistakably, a pubic hair.
I was horrified. I immediately stopped eating and brought it to the attention of the staff. The employee I spoke to seemed equally shocked and apologetic, offering me a refund and a replacement dessert. While I appreciated the gesture, the damage was done. The thought of what I had just consumed made my stomach churn, and I couldn’t bring myself to try anything else from their menu.
I want to give The Wee Bakers the benefit of the doubt. Mistakes happen, and I’m sure this was an isolated incident. However, this experience has left me questioning their hygiene standards and overall attention to detail. A bakery, of all places, should be meticulous about cleanliness, especially when it comes to food preparation.
In conclusion, while The Wee Bakers has a lot of potential, my experience was undeniably tainted—literally and figuratively. I hope they take this as a learning opportunity to reevaluate their practices and ensure that nothing like this happens again. As for me, I’ll be taking my cheesecake cravings elsewhere.
(Points deducted for the obvious reasons, but also for the lingering trauma.).
