Most is obvious, but all that can be done (legally) is to ensure the following:
Ensure your number is registered on TPS
Call their silent call guard line (shame its 0870 - but at least the registration is fast, your number and press one to confirm).
Log a formal complaint with ofcom either by calling or on their web site (this gives a largely useless case reference number, but at least it another statistic against this stupid company).
Ensure you contact (email will do), with known customers of RHmuppets such as Sky and Tiscali and specifically state you do not want to be contacted by sales, after sale or any 3rd party company on their behalf for unsolicited calls).
Finally, consider buying "CallBlocker". Not one of the most intelligent devices, but it answers all calls instantly and invites only personal callers and invited companies to press five to come through. If they press five, your home phone starts calling. On the plus side, it is callerID compatible - but I'm not sure it would work with BT's SMS service. Also, 1571 style services will not work since it always picks up. Personally, I could not see many elderly inbound callers understanding that it is not an answerphone! but that is perhaps me not giving credit. Anyway, its about £60 and if you don't mind the intrusion of it answering all calls before someone gets through then it could be the one for you.
Good luck.
