A review of Stravaigin Two by Robert Gray written on Monday 20th of October 2008
Ever touted as a fine exponent of seasonal cuisine I found myself disappointed by an evening dining in this restaurant. The menu promises much, but i'm afraid the food is pretty bland and unexciting to taste. In all honesty I probably made the wrong choice from the menu and should have had a burger as they looked good from where I was sitting. The special main of honey roast pigs cheeks with hoi sin stir fry had me salivating from the description but was woefully under seasoned (difficult for a dish containing soy I would have thought) and presented as a monochrome experience slopped into a bowl with not much to offset it. I would have cared not a jot had there been an explosion of flavour, but there wasn't. The staff are very pleasant and the ambience nice but overall this place is let down by the food. Maybe it was a bad night, maybe its complacency. I am not qualified to make that judgement. The west end of Glasgow has better to offer than this, on this showing. Please feel free to disagree, I would like to be proved wrong..
