A review of The Hurlet Brewers Fayre by Les Whiting written on Sunday 9th of November 2008
We drove up to the Table Table at the Hurlet thinking with such a ridiculous they would have to do tremondous food. How wrong I was.
First up there were notices on the door saying half the items were off the menu. Never mind - still worth a try?
We sat in a very nice lounge by the window and the atmosphere was fairly pleasant. We were served by a very nice waitress who was quick and efficient. First up we asked for sparkling water - there was none so we took still. I couldn't be sure as there was no bottle but it was very tap waterish.
I then had pumpkin and paprika soup to start with. It was very salty and in my opinion it was out of a tin with a few bits added in.
We all roast dinners as our main. It was shocking over-cooked lamb. Very dull potatoes boiled in their jackets, a medley of under-cooked vegetables and the biggest crime of the day, roast potatoes that appeared to have been deep fried.
The yorkshire pudding was reasonable.
The only plus side of the day was the waitress who excellent, but not good enough for a return visit..
