A review of Mosspark Baptist Church by Anonymous written on Tuesday 23rd of December 2008
I found myself in Mosspark Baptist church this Sunday morning at their family service. I am not a practicing christian and so was surprised at myself for attending. ( I was given a leaflet about the church at work by a collegue who is one of the congregation) When I arrived I was apprehensive about entering but was greated warmly by Danny and received smiles and words of welcome from the people I sat beside. I should say at this time that it was hard to find a seat as the church was packed, and I thought that congregations in Scotland were dwindeling. How churches have changed since I attended 25 years ago. If you haven't been for a long time then I can tell you that it's well worth taking a look. As I said before it was a family service with the children playing a large part. I was moved to tears and laughter at the Nativity and delighted in the singing of the young children. There was also an excellent presentation from the youth group and the singing and music were fab. Although I have been in churches over the years for funerals and weddings I haven't felt the presence of God as I did on Sunday. The message of God's love seemed to be everywhere from the smallest child dressed as a star to the love the congregation obviously had for each other. Gone are the days of old ladies in fur coats who delighted in tutting at children.
I said I was surprised to find myself at the Morning service and I can only say I was amazed that I went back again at night for the carol service. What a joy it was. One of the congregation spoke about his faith and love of God and for the second time that day I listened to an excellent sermon on God's love. However the icing on the cake for me had to be the contribution made by the choir. WOW!
My visits to this church were a joy and if you are troubled and stressed with life I would strongly recommend a visit..
