A review of The Boswell Hotel by Stella Smith written on Sunday 5th of April 2009
All I can say for sure is the best things about this place are the staff, Sadie the morning cook/waitress is an absolute joy, as is the chef and the young man who works the bar. It is such a shame that the place has been allowed to deteriorate the way it has, it needs a lot of cash spent to make it something special, and with the right advertising could really take off, there are some beautiful original features and the hotel could attract small conferences, there are no actual reception staff, which in itself seems to put pressure on the other staff, the chef had to book us in (not good) we had to request pliers to turn off a boiling hot radiator, the beds were clean but extremely uncomfortable, the TV picture was apalling and there was no remote control, the bathroom was very basic, there was black mould on the shower screen, the bath panel was split and the shower was broken so you had to hose yourself down,I would really have liked to say something nice but there is nothing to say, we would dearly love to stay again s it is close to what we visit for, but until the place has a major refurb we will not be returning to stay. Sorry..
