"Response to Mrs McIver"

In Feb I paid £1069 in full for a dress for my daughter Jennifer's wedding in July of next year. We were encouraged to pay the full amount in order to get a discount of £350!!! I have just found out that the order was passed to the designer but that they have not received any payment. The designer has offered to sell her the dress direct at cost which is £600. We would then need to find a seamstress and pay for any alterations. We are not talking about a pair of trousers here we are talking about a dress that will by then have cost £1669. As a mother of the bride to be I also found the statement by Mrs. McIver to be smug and insensitive. Very much a case of 'I'm alright Jack, pull up the ladder' I originally paid by maestro and went back into the shop and asked them to credit it and paid by Credit Card thinking I would be protected by Section 75. This does not seem to be the case, according to the person I spoke to at the CC company it looks as if I might have a fight on my hands getting any money. I wonder if anyone else has been given the same response from their CC company. .
