Laid to rest by funeral director
A local funeral director has laid to rest in the church car park almost 45 tonnes of road metal and aggregates to resurface and extend the local church car park in Bridge of Weir.
Alan Beaton of Beaton Bros funeral directors in the village was delighted to be able to make a contribution to the church and to other local businesses and residents by purchasing nearly 45 tonnes of aggregates.
Well known businessman and contractor Robbie Wilson kindly donated full use of his plant and equipment to transport the material and also to prepare and resurface the car park.
None of this would have been possible without the help of local man John Blair whose professional advice and experience was required to oversee and manage the resurfacing project.
Alan Beaton said “I personally would like to thank all at Freeland church for allowing local businesses and residents the use of the car parking facilities across the road from my premises on the main street. So I think that it is vitally important that I make this positive contribution to both the church and to the local community”.
For months now members have been clearing the overgrown area to the west of the car park of trees and boulders etc. It has been a mammoth effort and has brought together many members of the community. It would be encouraging to see more local businesses and residents donating their time or money on this worthwhile community initiative.
Every Saturday and most evenings throughout the week members of Freeland Church can be seen working hard to re landscape and improve what was once a derelict and overgrown area in the village. Anyone wishing to make a donation or anyone who would like to lend a hand can contact a member of Freeland church or alternatively Alan Beaton at his office in Bridge of Weir on 01505610555.
