"Jiving in the late 1957/58"

I first met Betty Allen @ Johnny Wilson at Butlins in Ayr about 1957. I was 15yrs old and was desperate to learn to jive. Betty @ Johnny ran a club at butlins for anyone who wanted to dance , @ i jumped at the chance to learn, it was fab. After the holiday I found they ran a club over at Cathcart Rd. in Glasgow. I joined the club and went a couple of nights a week . there was a program on s.t.v called rooftop .and a few of us were picked to go on the show, it was brilliant. I got married and jiving fell by the wayside, then years later i heard a wokmate talking about a jive club he went to in Glasgow called the lidella ,I went to check it out and could,nt believe it when i went into the club Betty Allan was the teacher 30 yrs after I first met her, and she still looked the same her eye makeup was fantastic her red hair alway,s pilled up, and boy could she moveafter all those years. I had a great time jiving but due to heart surgery i can,t do it now Betty thanksa for the memories..
