A review of Sizzler's Steak House by Alex written on Friday 25th of September 2009
My partner and I went to Sizzlers on the 20th September of this year, for a meal to celebrate my birthday. we went in, ordered drinks, and had a look at the menu. decided on pate for myself to start, and pea and ham soup for him to start.
the soup wasn't as hot as you would expect soup to be, and the toast served with the pate tasted as though it had started out the evening aas stale bread. Otherwise, the starters weren't too bad.
so, our main courses came, he had a burger and chips, which looked fine, and the chips were quite yummy.
however, I ordered the rump steak, welldone, with pepper sauce. So, the steak arrives, on a massive plate, with a tiny bowl of approximately 10 chips in it. The pepper sauce was in a ramiken, with no spoon or handle so as i could serve it without burning my fingers, and the staff seemed to have disappeared suddenly.
i cut into my steak, straight through the middle as i always do, to make sure it's cooked right, and it looked ok, so i then cut a bit of the end - which revealed the steak to be rare at both ends, and somewhat cold.
I pointed it out to a waiter who didn't understand much english, and he took it away without saying anything - i then ordered a glass of wine, thining I would ahve a while to wait for my steak to come back - to find they only served wine in 250ml glasses.
so, the waitress bring over my VAT of wine, and then my steak comes back - it's the same steak, with pepper sauce still on it, re-cooked. i cut into another bit of it, to find it still very pink inside. i was so angry with them. I called over the waitress, pointed it out to her, and asked for the bill for our starters, and drinks. She then in turn got the manager, who had the cheek to ask my partner why he wasn't going to eat his burger. they finally brought over the bill, we paid the £12 (they forgot to ass the glass of wine) and left. and not once, did they apologise to myself or my partner.
awful service, and awful food - well done, does not mean red, or pink, it means cooked!
