A review of Jack McPhee by Diana written on Thursday 5th of November 2009
Me & my mum had tickets for the Theatre Royal close by & decided to try Jack McPhee for our pre-theatre dinner, the menu looked lovely with lots of nice things to choose from & we both decided to go with the special which was bangers & mash with gravy, carmelised onions & peas & apple pie & cream for dessert. We waited quite a while to be served & even longer for our dinner to arrive, food was nice but we both had 2 try n eat it very fast as it was near 7pm & our show started at 7.30pm, we had got into the restaurant at 6.20pm, I should add that there was 2 older ladies at a table across from us who had been there since 6.10pm & they got there dinner after us. My mums apple pie & cream arrived & looked lovely, I was looking forward to mine but my mum had nearly finished hers so I ended up having a bite of hers, the waitress finally ran over at 7.20pm with a red face with my dessert & I had to tell her I now didn't have time to eat it, she took it away with no apology. Jack McPhee in Hope st has been open a very long time & I'm sure they must know by now that evening shows at the Theatre Royal start at 7.30pm & that they are going to get pre-theatre customers. I was very disapointed with the service as was my mum, worst service I have had in years in fact which is a pity because they served nice homemade food which me & my mum would have liked to go back & try but I'm afraid we both would never go back or recommend it to anyone else.
