And did AIC substantiate this debt to you? Did they have the necessary paperwork to collect on this debt? I bet they can't!
I'd be checking that out, and reverse the card transaction with the bank. Contrary to what AIC or what any other company may tell you, being in debt is not a crime.
What debt it may be, whether it exists or not, isn't the point. Is AIC collecting on a debt they have no business in collecting on?
But, applying pressure to people with the intent of extorting money IS a crime. If I were you, I'd consider this..
