”However, with these rights come responsibilities that people feel that they can ignore. People who borrow money from my clients do have a legal obligation to repay these debts. Money is not given to them on the basis of repayment whenever they wish. Many of the debtors I speak with do have the ability to make reasonable repayments or even take settlements on offer. They do not wish to make adjustments to their lifestyles accordingly. “ - Responsibilities also apply to AIC, who routinely ignore OFT guidelines, not to mention law. Having dealt with AIC – more to their detriment than mine - I know what I said in the previous sentence to be true. ‘Legal obligation?’ Your company has a legal obligation to fulfil CCA requests when received, and has a bad name for not doing so. Legal obligations cut both ways – remember that! Are you trying to suggest that failure to pay an AIC debt is criminal – if so, that’s a blatant untruth (which coming from AIC, is the normal of affairs)
”If you are in debt then I feel sorry for your plight, however if you do not make every effort to resolve these, then that is morally tantamount to theft.” – AIC should not try to play the moral high card – it doesn’t suit, and ‘AIC’ and ‘moral’ do not belong in the same sentence. You’ll find that virtually any available online information on AIC is almost entirely negative against the company.
“Trying to say that by a failure to provide a copy of the agreement for moneies forwarded in good faith is the same. “ – Same as what? If AIC can’t provide proof of debt, then it has no place to expect people to just blindly pay up.
”As for comments regarding my collegues and myself - many of our staff are neither "neds" or agressive to people. “ – I’ve dealt with AIC on numerous occasions, through my work. I’ve seldom found any collection agency to demonstrate such ignorance of credit industry legislation, unpleasantness to other people, and outright ‘make it up as we go along’ attitude as AIC does. You also said ‘many of my staff are neither ‘neds’ nor aggressive’. So are you admitting that some of them are?
“Some people do not like being told the hard truth of their situation and react badly.” – No, some people just don’t like to be spoken down to. Especially by neds, who are in no position to talk down to anyone.
“By labelling my company and staff in generalistic insulting terms shows a small minded attitude to the problems you have.“ – ‘Your’ company? Do you own it? I was under the impression that this is a comment site, to express an opinion on AIC. This I have done, so I’m hardly going against any kind of grain. Also, if you’re trying to put a professional spin on AIC, work on your spelling.
