A review of The Yoker Resource Centre by David Brown written on Tuesday 16th of February 2010
I was amased at finding this site and would love more information on the book "Both sides of the Burn" as i was brought up in Langholm Street and attended Yoker School from five to fifthteen. When I left school in 1964 worked in Yarrows/Clydebank technical college and immigrated to Canada in 1980.
I remember on my first week at school I ran home twice and at break time and my Mother taking me back after returning home. When I attended secondary school I used to kick the ball all the way home for Lunch and back again with Matt Reid who lived in the next close. Then we would play fitba deside the old dinner hall until the bell rang, I lived in the close beside the Anchorage when I was married with my wife and Three kids and our back window looked on the school. Would love to hear from any one who attended the school at this time..
