The Observer has to take a long hard look at him/herself. The plans that are being put in place for a new school on the Springboig campus far outstrip the current provision at St John's. This move is far overdue and will benefit generations of troubled youngsters.

Is the teachers' protest really about providing the best service for the pupils or is it about preserving jobs? They have a point either way, but it is time to be honest. Who stands to benefit from further industrial action? With exams coming up it is definitely not the pupils.
