A review of Springboig St Johns School by Anonymous written on Tuesday 18th of May 2010
I am a teacher at a Secondary school in Glasgow. I have been following with great interest the comments about Springboig St. John’s School. I have to say that there is no question about it that the staff are being treated dreadfully by managers and others. Surely the EIS and the other staff unions should be more vocal as it would seem from the comments they are not doing too much at the moment. None of the comments say what redundancy package was offered to staff but it is obviously disgraceful judging by the comments. All staff working in these type of places have a very stressful job and work wonders with these type of young people. They get more out of the boys and girls than mainstream schools can offer them and they are also backed by an excellent care system. The powers to be must recognise this and treat them fairly and at the very least give them a decent package when the school closes as they most certainly deserve it. All my colleagues agree with me and from the very beginning all teachers and social/care staff workers throughout Scotland should have got right behind Springboig St. John’s School and supported their fellow professionals. Maybe then management and others would not be getting away with what they are and they would be treating the staff in a much better and fairer way. .
