A review of The Merchant Pride by Tony.. written on Friday 18th of May 2007
After being away from Glasgow for so long, i decided to take a couple weeks off and come back up to see the OLD CITY
Having not been in the merchant Pride before, my m8's took me along one sunday for a day out....needelees to say the place was packed, but the entertainment was the SAME that i heard about 4 year ago.....god, thought things would have changed by now, but they havent. Dont really know the new owner of the place but from someone who works in the entertainment business for nearly 17 years....i would say GET A GRIP OF YOUR PLACE.....no wonder it gets bad reviews.
Having been on a trawl of all the toeht haunts that Glasgow has to offer, i was glad to see that the LGBT centre had moved to new premises.....and not before time.
The service me and my friends got from all the staff was second to none and we felt welcomed.....not many bars know how to do this in Glasgow...all they want is your money. Though a bit pricey, the Med Cafe Bar has great food offers, but u pay for what you get.....no nasty chip pan smells....or nasty toilet pongs, well done to the owners of the Med....you should get a pat on the back from the gay Community for achieving what a lot of others have tried and failed, but can see this being a success
Nice warm friendly enviroment (air conditioned) too...a nice place to chill out for dinner on a sunday after a weekend of partying, well done to the LGBT centre for bringing together a nice new safe friendly enviroment....we will be back.
NOW TO ALL YOU NASTY BITCHING QUEENS....
Glasgow gay scane is a very small scene compared to the one i have in London.
Instead of you all bitching and fighting with each other the scene in glasgow should be behind each
other and help get Glasgow back on the map, because from what i hear Glasgow is bottom of the League for visiting gay venues in the UK.
Learn to love each other insted of backstabbing each other....because what goes round....comes round in the end.
Well back in the dreary London suburbs now recovering from my two week vacation.....be christmas before i get back up there, so to all my friends, and you know who you are, be safe, be happy and stay friendly.
As to the dreary places in Glasgow, pubs and clubs....get a grip and stop ripping the good people of Glasgow OFF...
Tony.
