A review of Lauders Bar by Anonymous written on Tuesday 3rd of August 2010
I took friends from oversees to Lauders as it is near to the Buchanan Centre and in Sauchiehall Street, there were eight of us. It had been a few years since I had been in Lauders but always remembered it as a good place in Glasgow to eat, but not any more. In the group their were two teenagers, therefore we had to sit in the family area. The noise from the kitchen staff often drowned out any conversation the diners were having. Whilst waiting some time for someone to take my order at the bar, a man sitting having a pint told me to hold on I would eventually be served and that they were very short staffed. When our meals arrived they were bland looking and rather disappointing, not in the least like the usual good pub lunches. A chicken burger was not a chicken burger but a dry roll with two pieces of chicken breast, not in the least very appetising looking, and when queried were told they don't make chicken burgers, so why advertise them? It would appear that chips were the main vegetable as there wasn't another veggie on the plate, some had peas, just piles of chips. The only saving grace was that the staff were pleasant enough even if they were run off their feet. The other thing was the ladies room was a disgrace. Three cubicles had toilet seats missing, the soap dispeners were empty and the carpet was disgusting. Sorry to have to report this but I felt bad taking my friends there..
