Very sorry that Michaela had a hard time, but just to clarify a few things.
Midwives and Medical staff have different qualifications, just because they are doctors does not mean they have better experience, (some of them)
Pessaries or gel is given depending on how ready a girl is to go into labour. If you just try to break the waters then some damage could be done to the cervix.
Reasons for not changing babies on bed are,
1 Cross Infection
2 Bad for the girls backs when bending over
3 Baby is at risk of rolling off the bed, and yes it can happen.
The way she was spoken to shouldnt have happened,
Sometimes an understaffed and stressed environment does not help. That should not be an excuse but does unfortunatley happen..
