A review of Elder Park Primary School by Stan Firth written on Friday 15th of October 2010
I attended EPS from 1935 to 1940 and thought I got a great education there, but I was quite bright. I think poorer children had a hard time of it and got little sympathy. In the early days of the war, school was closed, but Mr Kelly took a class in my house with boys in the morning and in Bert Tindal's house in the afternoon for girls. Education was beginning to change then and as I was left-handed, I was allowed to write using that hand, then someone found out and I had to use my right, then my left and finally my right. Now I'm ambidextrous - I can't write well with either hand!
What a shame they are knocking it down!.
