A review of Ruchazie Primary School by Ian Hamilton written on Wednesday 26th of January 2011
I attended Ruchazie PS from its opening
in Feb (?) 1957 till 1962. Thereafter I travelled into the west end to Woodside Senior Secondary School.
My early memories of living in "high" Ruchazie are mainly happy ones. My father was a fireman and we lived in Dunnotar St.
My teacher was a Mr MacKay, from the Island of Lewis - he was an academic inspiration, teaching us some Latin and German.
Now I am a Christian minister in Cambridge - a long way from the east end. But as my Edinburgh wife often says, "You can take the boy out of Glasgow, but you can't take Glasgow out of the boy" - to which my four children would all say "Amen"!.
